John Howard still believes water agreement can be reached

JOHN HOWARD is still confident an agreement can be reached with the states .. on control
of the Murray Darling basin.

Victorian premier STEVE BRACKS has rejected Mr HOWARD's 10 billion dollar proposal
and put forward his own alternative plan.

Mr BRACKS has also said there's no point in holding Friday's summit of premiers now
he's rejected the Federal Government's plan.
